Get to know the history of Baška through a guided walk!
Baška is a combination of unique values; in addition to beautiful nature, stunning views and a long tradition of beach tourism, it hides an indelible historical and cultural significance – it is the cradle of the Glagolitic alphabet, the first Croatian alphabet and the invaluable cultural stamp of our history!
In the desire to preserve this uniqueness, the Baška Glagolitic Trail was created, a trail consisting of large and small stone sculptures of Glagolitic letters scattered throughout the Baška Valley.
It was designed by the Sinjali Society, whose artistic director is the academic sculptor Ljubo de Karina. At the foot of the sculptures there are info tiles, and the Glagolitic letter is also written in Braille. Although scattered throughout the valley, the sculptures are carefully placed in space. Their location indicates an area of cultural, historical, traditional or natural importance.
In order to give our visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the magic of our small town with a great tradition in an interesting, dynamic and interactive way, we organized three free guided walks in June:
BACK TO THE PAST – BAŠĆAN PATH OF THE GLAGOLITIC
HISTORICAL WALK – THROUGH THE GLAGOLITIC TO THE VIEW FROM THE CASTLE
LETTER BY LETTER – FROM BAŠĆANSKA PLOČA TO BAŠĆANSKA PLAŽA
In just two hours, a local guide will take visitors through the main parts and localities of Baška’s history, give them the opportunity to meet new people, discover our culture and tradition, learn about important sights and all the details that a traditional vacation would not allow.
The story of Baška and Glagolitic is always attractive and important, and these free guided walks through Baška are designed to give as many of our visitors the opportunity to walk at least part of the Baška Glagolitic Trail and learn about the rich history and culture hidden between the walls of our cobbled streets and unique the nature that surrounds them!
